The Season Lords--A Fantasy Trilogy
Four seasons, four women, one hero, one villain, one day when they all collide...
Every four years, the quasi-Victorian country of Challen is afflicted with the Day of All Seasons, a magical storm that mixes up the seasons. The damage this storm wreaks would make the country uninhabitable were it not for the Season Lords, a group of four men and women who have magic granted to them by the Four Gods and Goddesses of Challen. The Sol or Sola Spring has healing magic, the Sol or Sola Sum plant magic, the Sol or Sola Fall animal magic, and the Sol or Sola Win weather magic. The Sol or Sola Spring also has the ability to link the other three so they can pool their magic. For over a thousand years, succeeding groups of Season Lords have tamed the Day of All Seasons and kept Challen prosperous ... until now. For now, a new group of Season Lords have been Installed, and with their Installation a different magic has entered Challen, magic harking back to the time before the Day of All Seasons and linked to the origins of this magical storm. With this new magic, the Season Lords have a chance to end the Day of All Seasons entirely -- but only if they are willing to risk everything.
This is the setting of my fantasy trilogy, The Season Lords. Book One, Day of All Seasons, introduces us to the new Season Lords: Gwen, a spoiled noblewoman; Jenna, a farmer's daughter with a bastard child; Ysabel, daughter of a foreigner who hates magic; and Kay, a pious seamstress. These four young women from different backgrounds must learn to work together and figure out the mystery of Luke, a young nobleman with an unusual magic. In Book Two, Fifth Season, the Season Lords learn more about the origins of the Day of All Seasons as they try to cope with a couple of new magical threats to Challen. In Book Three, Summon the Season Lords, the Season Lords travel to the source of the Day of All Seasons to fight their ancient enemy.
I have completed Day of All Seasons and Fifth Season, plus I've started Summon the Season Lords. I am currently trying to sell Day of All Seasons to a book publisher. Until I do, I cannot place sample chapters on this site. However, I have written a short-story prequel to The Season Lords trilogy called "Demon's Diamond." This story takes place over a thousand years before the events in The Season Lords and is about a confrontation between Kron Evenhanded and Salth, two powerful magicians involved in the origin of the Day of All Seasons.
